How to Register

We understand registration may be confusing, especially if you are now to our sport. Don’t worry, we are here to make things as easy as possible for you!

Steps to take:

1. Select Your Club

Granville Football has 23 local Parramatta – Cumberland based clubs you can chose from. You are able to select any of these based on your preferences. Each club offers different programs, pricing,  locations and options. Its up to you and your research as to which club you select. Click the button below to determine which club best suits your needs.

2. Register within Playfootball.com

Each player must register through the Football Federation Australia’s National registration platform, Play Football. After you have selected your club, click “REGISTER”. This will link you directly to that clubs profile within the registration system.

Once you are on the Play Football portal, select “Start my Registration” and begin to follow the prompts.

Within this process, you can enter you kids “Active Kids” Voucher entitling you to a $100 discount towards your registration fees.

Complete!

Once you have registered, you will receive and automated response for confirmation. Closer to the season, you will then receive information from your club about trials, training, grading and other relevant information. Make sure you follow you clubs Facebook page as most information is shared on this platform.

When do Registrations Open?

Registrations for the 2021 Winter Football Season have now closed. Registrations for the 2022 Winter Football season open in early January 2022, however you can express your interest by clicking here (link to a jotform)

How much is registration?

Registration fees vary from each club and each age group. Please ensure you check out each of our 23 clubs information pages to find out specific pricing.

The standard fees are for the 2021 Winter Football competition that consists of 18 matches, plus finals should your team make it through. Some clubs have optional extras such as equipment, clothing and extended coaching opportunities.

Registration fees go towards:

  • Ground Hire & Ground Maintenance
  • Equipment Costs
  • Player Insurance
  • GDSFA,, Football NSW & Football Federation Australia administration fees
  • Referees
  • Coach Education

Do you accept Active Kids Vouchers?

Yes! Active Kids Vouchers can be used during your registration process. Each School aged child is eligible for 2x $100 vouchers per year to be used towards the registrations of sport. How often will we train?

Training for each club and team varies. Please ensure you check out each of our 23 clubs information pages to find out specific training options.

How old do you have to be to play football?

GDSFA and our clubs offer programs for players 4 and over.

Players can play well into their adult years with options available for;

  • Over 35s Mens
  • Over 35s Womens
  • Over 45s Mens

I would like to become a referee, how do i do so?

I am a coach of a team. I would like to participate in a course to improve my ability, how do I go about this?

GDSFA conducts many courses for coaches throughout the season. The courses on offer are:

  • Grass Roots Course – 5 to 8 year olds (3 hours)
  • Skill Acquisition – 9 to 13 year olds (14 hours)
  • Game Training – 13 to 17+ year olds (14 hours)
  • C License (49 hours)

When does the season start and how long does it go for?

The 2021 season starts on the 9th, 10th and 11th April.

The standard season length is 18 – 21 rounds, plus a finals series for competitive age groups should your team finish in the top 4. Most teams play in pre season trial matches, however this is dependant on your club.

Throughout the year, there are also further opportunities to play more games within competitions such as the State Cup & Gala Days. These are also determined by your club.

Im a beginner, can i join?

Of course!

The beauty of Football is that its for all players of all ability, no matter your age or gender. Most age groups generally have lower divisions that are ideal for beginners or those new to our sport, this includes ladies football.

Do you have Girls Only Teams?

Yes!

Girls Only football is playing in our joint collaboration with the Blacktown & Districts Soccer Football Association known as “The Phoenix League”. These all female competitions are played on Sundays.

Can i try before i register?

Yes!

Clubs within our Association offer many “Come & Try Days”, check out your clubs website for further information on these.

Im new to the area and to football, which club should i select?

Granville Football  has 23 clubs to select from. Each club offers different programs, prices, inclusions and offerings. You should select a club that meets your needs.

On our home page lists all 23 clubs and shows a map of where they are each located.

If you are unsure on which club is best for you, please reach out to us and we will help guide you through.

What equipment do i need to purchase to play?

All players who play in programs ages 5 and over must wear Football Boots, Shin Pads and their clubs football uniform. All other equipment is provided by your club.

When selecting your football boots, its recommended to purchase moulded studs rather than metal or screw in studs.

Football is played and watched the world over. It brings people together and makes them feel connected through a shared interest. Playing football fosters a love of the game that can stem a lifetime and reach far beyond your playing years. 

As the world’s most participated in sport, football is so much more than the game with the round ball. Football is completely inclusive and does not discriminate. It provides the opportunity to be part of a team sport regardless of your age, ability, gender, race, religion or background. Whether you have never played before or are a professional, the rules of the game, the equipment required to play and the size of the fields you play on are always the same.

Football is fun, challenging and exciting. It teaches cooperation, teamwork, problem solving and helps develop social skills and self-confidence, boosts self-esteem, as well as teaching respect for others. There are many health benefits to playing football including the physical – building strength, improving muscle tone, increasing flexibility, aerobic fitness and endurance not to mention the mental benefits – friendships that are formed and the comradery that develops between teammates, as well as life lessons in winning and losing.

Whether you are new to the game, an experienced player or like to play for fun there are many opportunities you can partake in within the Parramatta – Cumberland areas. The Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association provides footballing opportunities through our 23 member clubs for girls, women, Children as young as 5, boys, men, special needs, new arrivals to the country, walking football for over 45’s, and representative football.
